PRF Gas Solutions is responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the new Biomethane Metering and Injection Station at the Frossos wastewater treatment plant in Braga, Portugal.

Developed in accordance with the gas distribution company’s technical specifications, the station has the capacity to inject up to 500 Nm³/h of biomethane into the distribution network.

The solution integrates the systems required to continuously analyse biomethane quality, regulate pressure, perform fiscal flow metering and add odorant before injection into the network. These functions ensure that the renewable gas complies with the applicable safety, quality and operating requirements.

The station also incorporates instrumentation, control and monitoring systems that enable the main process parameters to be monitored in real time and ensure integration with the gas distribution infrastructure.

Injecting biomethane produced from wastewater treatment into the network enables local resources to be recovered and renewable energy to be supplied through existing gas infrastructure.

This project represents another contribution from PRF Gas Solutions to the development of renewable gases, the decarbonisation of the energy system and the transition towards a more circular economy.
